“Hollow 1 – Leaving for the Ghetto”

Burning of the Warsaw Ghetto – The 12 foot painting depicts the horific night when the Nazis burned the ghetto after a long standoff by the Jews. The painting is completely acurate using photos from the SS files for authenticity. When these paintings go on exhibit, the photos will be an important part of it.
These portraits of children along with many more killed in the Holocaust will become part of a large sculpture planned using these simple portraits along with other artifacts and symbols.
SCULPTURE PLAN
The center will be a huge “cone shaped” piece with paintings like the two above of actual
children who died in the camps. Information about them will be printed on the front of the
paintings.
Around the outside will be children made of wood playing ring around the rosie (based on an
actual photo taken at a displaced persons camp after the war).
These children suffered also, and will have a large DP stamped on his or her back.
Coming out of the top will be a spirit like figure representing the horror of all of the death ,
especially of children; and the suffering of these “lost children” represented by
those with no families seen here.playing a simple game that children all over the world play.
